Excuse Me

I seldom go through my day and think that the person who passes me on the street has a real family and friends, a real schedule, and must live with real mistakes. To confront such nonexistent relationships, I photograph strangers; those whom I am drawn to, and sometimes intimidated by.

In doing this, I am able to look into their eyes, be part of their day, and get a sense of who they are; even through these brief interactions. By approaching them, I recognize them. By printing at a large scale, I am able to provide them presence. I excuse myself, and allow them voice. Through this process, I am able to reconcile my nonexistent relationships, and give these people some of the thought and humanity they deserve.
